چکیده
Abstract Groundwater availability, management and protection are great challenges for the sustainability of groundwater resources in scattered rural areas Atlantic regions Europe where is only option water supply. This report presents a hydrogeological study coastal granitic area Oia northwestern Spain, which has unique geomorphological features with steep slopes favoring erosion weathered granite. The conceptual model includes: (1) regolith layer, present flat summit mountains; (2) slope debris colluvial deposits, intermediate lowest parts hillside; (3) marine terrace; (4) underlying fractured recharge from rainfall infiltration varies spatially due to variations terrain slope, geology land use. mean annual estimated hydrological balance ranges 75 mm steepest zone 135 areas. flows mostly through detrital formations, have largest hydraulic conductivities. discharges seepage areas, springs, along main creeks into sea. been implemented flow model, later used select best pumping scenario. Model results show that future needs domestic tourist supply can be safely provided eight wells maximum rate 700 m 3 /day.

Antidunes on steep slopes
16 When increasing the rates of subcritical flow on gentle slopes, the bed successively produces 17 ripples, dunes and flat beds. Antidunes (defined here as all bed undulations for which the 18 surface gravity waves are in phase with the bed profile) appear only in high flow rates and 19 may be found in some extreme natural flow events. Inversely, on steep slopes flume 20 experiment (S≥1% appro...

douala metropolitan city loated in the littoral province of cameroon, has experienced a rapid urbaniation and industralisation. the city depends heavily on groundwater as a resource. due to ubiquitous sources of pollution, groundwater quality and contamination has become an imprtant issue for this urban groundwater supply. this study uses the major ion chemistry of groundwater together with t...
متن کاملCoastal Groundwater Management with Nearshore Resource Interactions
This paper develops a regional hydrologic-ecologic-economic model of groundwater use and a nearshore ecosystem. Particularly, we model coastal groundwater management and its effects on discharge, nearshore water quality, and marine biota (e.g., indigenous marine algae). We show that incorporating the external effects on nearshore resources increases the optimal steady-state head level. Numerica...

The aim of the study was to assess the effect of residential radon exposure on the risk of lung cancer in never-smokers and to ascertain if environmental tobacco smoke modifies the effect of residential radon. We designed a multicentre hospital-based case-control study in a radon-prone area (Galicia, Spain). All participants were never-smokers. Cases had an anatomopathologically confirmed prima...
متن کاملArtificial recharge of groundwater: hydrogeology and engineering
Artificial recharge of groundwater is achieved by putting surface water in basins. furrows, ditches, or other facilities where it infiltrates into the soil and moves downward to recharge aquifers. Artificial recharge is increasingly used for shortor long-term underground storage. where it has several advantages over surface storage, and in water reuse. Artificial recharge requires permeable sur...
